It’s no secret that Stellantis has had a horrible run since it’s inception, especially in North America. From killing off the best selling Jeep Cherokee (and then resurrecting it as a hybrid that no one asked for) to the short lived departure of the HEMI. It’s safe to say they have a lot of making up to do.

RAM seems to be the tip of the spear in this regard with release after release of special edition trucks and also the new RAM express which claims to be Canada’s cheapest full size 4X4 truck. From the outside it seems like they’re really turning things around with a sales increase of 5% in the first half of 2026 when compared to the year previous. In a vacuum this is really exciting, I want to get my hands on a rumble bee like everyone else does. But this all begs the question is this a temporary bump or a sign of a long term rebound from RAM. Personally I would argue it could be.

First off, Trucks like the express are what we need. cheap trucks for the masses that do exactly what it says on the tin, and it shows. In my local area these are one of the only models you can’t find on a dealer lot. meanwhile the limited, rebel, and sport models are all lined up next to each other getting lot rot. If I had to guess this is probably the largest driving factor behind the growth here. But of course the most exciting trucks for the HEMI loving crowd is the Rumblebee. This truck is all HEMI, even the 5.7L ditches RAM’s E-torque system for good ole v8 power then it takes this power and slaps it in a squatted quad cab truck with a wide body. but of course this won’t be a volume seller especially seeing as the highest end SRT variants are likely to be encroaching on six figure territory.

Then there’s the conversation of the rumored RAM Dakota, set to be a quarter ton competitor to the Ford ranger, Toyota Tacoma, and GM’s twin trucks. This, if done correctly will be the real savior of the brand. While there is little to no information available it would make the most sense for this truck to share it’s platform with the Jeep Gladiator and come in below the Jeep in pricing on entry-level models. This vehicle could be the real savior for the brand. The Ranger is a huge volume driver for Ford and the Dakota could easily do the same. assuming, of course that RAM doesn’t fumble this launch too.
